We’re not sure what to say about this video except it strangely represents Perhonen’s work as pieces of otherly art to be experienced. And, some of these very special garments can be found at BIRD!
So quintessentially Italian…
Henry Beguelin creates luxury, using unique leathers that are specially chosen and exquisitely cut, fashioned, assembled and stitched by the expert hands of about 40 craftsman. This video is an insightful view into the world of Henry Beguelin.
Well heeled
Having been designing shoes for nearly 30 years, Frenchman Robert Clergerie has created so many innovative designs that have become the lexicons of style within the industry. He continues to focus on uniqueness and comfort and his shoes are crafted using only the finest materials and manufacturing techniques. Mmm! Come and try out our selection at Maude, they look so fantastic and are beautiful to walk in.
Perfect Morsels
Anyone heading through Hamilton East may have noticed a welcome addition to the cafe scene tucked in behind United Video on the corner of Grey and Bridge Streets. Mavis & Co popped up with little fanfare a few months back. When I discovered their great coffee and Macaroons topped with Belgian chocolate, well, you couldn’t keep me away. Thanks Mavis!
The Clever Letterer
After just reading an article on her recently in URBIS, the wonderfully talented Sarah Maxey strolled into BIRD yesterday! Sarah was in our fair City for the day, guest lecturing at this years Spark conference. Check out this fantastic interview [here] which gives you a great insight into the breadth of Sarah’s graphic artistry.
New Romantics
I had a vivacious young artist pop into BIRD a little while back. Her name is Kathryn Tsui and she was in Hamilton for the exhibition launch of New Romantics at the Calder Lawson Gallery at the Academy of Performing Arts (one of Hamilton’s best venues). She beautifully photographs these creations from debris collected from collision sites around the streets of Auckland (where else?). The show is in it’s final week – do check it out, along with the up-coming exhibitions. They really have been fantastic this year.
